Your Questions About Antiques And Antiquing

Charles asks…

Does anyone know how I can look up an antique table and chairs by the model number printed on the bottom?

I have the name of the company that made it and the model number. I would just like to find out what year it was made.

Your best bet would to be try and contact an antique dealer. But beware they only want to take and they dont like handing out their expertise. Another way would be to look it up through wikipedia you may find something of use there

John asks…

I’m trying to find out any info I can about this antique table and chairs set?

It is a sort of claw foot, with brass caps that are original, and has 4 chairs. The tabletop has a scalloped edge, and is a blond oak. I really love this set and was going to refinish it, but when I was looking up some procedures, it said to make sure that what you are refinishing isn’t worth a bundle. Now my wheels are turning, and I have researched this previously to no avail. Please help! I will email you a pic…or post on FB

We don’t do face book

but mom has been appraising for years – supported a family doing it

she would be happy to give you free advise just email her the pics

first use the email on this profile then we will exchange real emails if you wish

she says smart of you to stop where you were at to find the value before you devalue-ate it

Betty asks…

What would be the best way to ship an antique dining table and 4 chairs?

Hi,

We have a table that has been in the family 100 years out near GEttysburg, PA and want to get it to Madison, wi. What would be the cheapest way to do that. We have people on both ends to assist pickup and delivery. Thx in advance

If you cherish them, you should hire moving company. You don’t pay full freight tell them you want to piggy back if they have loads going there.Or a covered pickup, take a vacation. Good fishing up there.

First, I suggest you edit this question and remove your phone number and email address because it can be seen by millions of people. Second, you should expect to get an answer here on Answers, not by phone or email. That’s the point of Answers. Questions are answered here so everyone can benefit.

Finally, you’ve given very little information about your furniture, such as the manufacturer, style and size of the table and whether it has leaves. I suggest you look on eBay or other auction sites to see if there’s something comparable for an idea of what someone might be willing to pay.
